Sara Allard

Founder and Chief Creative Officer

A designer both by nature and training, Sara began her career in Advertising in New York City, working on Motorola, Castro Motor Oil, and Quality Branded, among others. She launched CSB after a 15-year run as Creative Director at Carole Hochman Design Group, working with brands such as Ralph Lauren, Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan and Oscar de la Renta. At Hochman, Sara and her team were responsible for all aspects of brand identity — everything from e-commerce websites and marketing campaigns, to photography, design and packaging, PR and fashion editorial … including big-box programs for Costco and QVC. She’s worked with designers, clients, partners and production companies across the U.S and internationally.

Sara is the ultimate arbiter of good taste. Her passion for design is unparalleled. She’s an eternal optimist, and brings that trait to each new project. Her superpower is an unfailing ability to inspire enthusiasm. And her confidence in what she and her team create is contagious. With clients across a variety of industries, Sara loves taking a thoughtful, strategic approach to uncover a client’s brand story, and create effective, compelling business tools with an exceptionally high taste level. 

Sara has a BFA from University of Michigan and attended graduate school at The Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Greenwich Point Conservancy and Impact Fairfield County.

Ellen Reid

Ellen has been marketing and promoting brands for more than 20 years. A longtime veteran of the publishing industry, she’s worked at The New York Times, The New Yorker, SELF and Vogue, among others. She has crafted integrated marketing packages, custom entertainment platforms, multi-brand sponsorships & retail events for almost every category of business.

In addition, with extensive experience in non-profit and cause marketing, Ellen knows well how to partner with charitable organizations … Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, Children’s Defense Fund & Friends of the High Line (to name a few). She loves to develop opportunities that move brands forward while simultaneously giving back.

Joining CSB, and working with companies to identify and articulate their unique business strengths and core values, was a seamless next step in her career. She loves having the opportunity to continue learning different industries and using both her left- and right-brain on a daily basis.

Ellen has a B.A. from Colgate University. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Rockin’ Appalachian Mom Project, working toward hunger relief in the eastern Kentucky region.

Kurt Finkbeiner

A Creative Director with more than 25 years of experience, Kurt has a design skill that cannot be taught — impeccable taste. He is a walking encyclopedia of typefaces and award-winning designers.

Kurt’s inherent passion for great design informs his approach to each client and project. He’s inspired by an organization’s unique attributes and uses this to craft brand identities and business tools that communicate in the most impactful way. He always sees the bigger picture and applies this perspective to his work, whether he’s directing a photo shoot or designing a dynamic new homepage.

Kurt received many industry accolades during his career at both Graphic Expression and Ernst & Young. He worked closely with clients such as Columbia University Medical Center, IBM, Tyco Corporation, Morgan Stanley, New York Life, DKNY, City University of New York, among others.

Kurt graduated from Pratt University with a BFA in Graphic Design. When he isn’t designing, he can be found sailboat racing on Long Island Sound, Newport and Block Island.

Jessica Vogel

Jessica has over two decades of experience in design and branding, and her work is often described as creative “genius”. As a Creative Director, she brings a level of creativity and design talent to CSB that we, and our clients, appreciate on a daily basis.

She began her career as Art Director at a boutique design firm in Bethesda, MD, where her clients included The Washington Post Company, Freddie Mac, and NIH. In 2003, Jessica launched her own design business. Her design expertise spans a wide range, including corporate identity, environmental design, web design, advertising, and other marketing collateral for clients across a variety of industries.

Jessica’s been with CSB since its inception, and loves to explore brands from many different perspectives … all of which inform her work. Her design and creative direction always bring a client’s brand to life in a smart, relevant way. Whether it’s a new corporate identity or a revamped website, she has an innate ability to align with a client’s goals and, through design and messaging, help them effectively engage their target audience. 

Jess earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Michigan and continued her design studies at Portfolio Center, in Atlanta, GA.

Sara Sargent

Sara began her career in journalism and still holds deep respect for the values of integrity and truth. She believes in the power of pure, original thinking, and has a fierce passion for proper grammar — as, in her opinion, any proper writer should.

For years, Sara held influential roles in the news industry —both broadcast and print — and she leverages those editorial roots in her work for Case Study, adding vivid color and unparalleled detail to both her words and her research. Contemporary copywriting means that no form of media goes unturned, and she exceeds expectations with her compelling and aesthetic solutions.

To truly grasp the future, you need to watch it unfold: when away from her desk, you can find her gaining new perspectives through travel and experimenting with new recipes. As the mother of a toddler, her sleep is precious and her days are sweet — she finds inspiration in her busy life and in the beauty of good wine. 

Sara has been a part of the Case Study team since 2017 and loves every opportunity to work with bridge-builders and world-shapers.

Courtenay Washkowitz

Courtenay oversees the business strategy and development for Case Study Brands. As a founder of Gilt Groupe, she has a passion for start-ups, growth businesses and strategy. After honing her taste level in the fashion industry at Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt Groupe, Ralph Lauren and Intermix, Courtenay understands the delicate balance between the creative process and a pragmatic framework for success. Courtenay holds a BS in Economics from Duke University and a JD from Columbia Law School.
